Freedom of Expression
It was my final for the first semester of senior year.
I wasn’t too fond of the rose (I blame the stencil since I used a regular sheet of paper for the rose) But everyone seemed to really like it.
There is also a statement I wrote about it, since it was a social commentary for a contest.
“Historically, discrimination of race and religion impacts freedom of speech. This piece represents the women of Muslim culture and how in their own culture and around their world they have been unfairly treated and stereotyped. Muslim women face a dual problem: “A general lack of fair media representation because they are women and misrepresentation because they are Muslim”. This topic is important to me because I despise the unfairness of hating someone because of their race, culture, or religious practices. In a perfect world everyone would be treated fairly, equally, and with respect based on their true character.“
